Thanksgiving dinner to less fortunate
Tam the Tailor supplies free vermicelli, spring roll meal to residents at Red Road Lodge in Winnipeg

It wasn't turkey, but dozens of Winnipeg's less fortunate were invited to eat a free vermicelli and spring roll Thanksgiving dinner Saturday donated by Tam Nguyen and his wife.
"I want to help … to do something good," Nguyen, also known as Tam the Tailor, told CBC News.
Nguyen and his wife supplied Vietnamese food from a restaurant they own to people at Red Road Lodge on Main Street. The North End organization supplies affordable apartment suites and support to people who are trying to get back on their feet.
Tam Nguyen opened his own tailor shop on Ellice Avenue in 1986. He still works there today.
Nguyen also runs Tam Custom Tailor on Ellice Avenue in Winnipeg. But before he got into the seam sewing and garment alteration business, he was a newcomer with little more than the clothes on his back.
"On Oct. 10, it's 36 years ago I [came] to Canada. In that time, I came with nothing," Nguyen said.
Nguyen said providing the food was about saying thank you to the people who helped him ease into a new life in Canada nearly four decades ago. Without that support, Nguyen said he wouldn't be the successful business man he is today.
"Anybody can help a little bit and do something good for everyone, so that way we lead together," he said.
Red Road Lodge is a 40-room transitional housing facility which provides safe and affordable housing and support services to those working to get back on their feet.
